DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6908081
Abstract
Certificate
This paper presents a small exploration of the problem faced by visually impaired college students in academic information seeking and library use in India. In-depth telephonic interviews were conducted with fifteen visually impaired undergraduate and post graduate students across the country. Initial findings reveal that academic libraries of their institutions used by participants hardly catered to their academic needs and those visually impaired students, when looking for information and materials for academic purposes, rely most often on interpersonal network and the Internet. The preferred format for this specific user group is not the Braille, but electronic document. The assistive technologies play important role in their academic experiences. Overall, they face barriers in the form of time-constraints, lack of independence and lack of accommodative attitude of teaching and non teaching faculty and limited access to electronic materials and clear print documents which can be read by the visually impaired students if equipped with adequate technological support. The authors also give suggestions to make library services accessible for these students.

COMPUTER VIRTUALIZATION FOR BUSINESS GROWTH
Ms. Sarbjit Kaur
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6910697
Abstract
Certificate
Virtualization has become a very popular research topic in recent years. Virtualization is used in varied applications such as e-Learning, business-to-business communication, social networking, computer simulation and enterprise development. Virtualization provides many benefits like greater efficiency in CPU utilization, greener IT with less power consumption, better management through central environment control, more availability, reduced project timelines by eliminating hardware procurement, improved disaster recovery capability, more central control of the desktop, and improved outsourcing services. These advances are due to the availability of high-speed computers, fiber-optic-enabled internet connections and advanced virtualization programs. However, only a very small amount of research has been conducted, most especially on the performance of virtualization programs. Thus little is known about the performance of the various virtualization programs such as VMware Workstation and Amazon Web Services. When dealing with virtualization, performance is of primary importance. This study opens a new path for research in the area related to performance of virtualization programs. The conclusion explores possible directions for future research on the performance of virtualization programs. Findings of this study may help businesses to select appropriate virtualization program as part of their information technology infrastructure and thereby benefit from using virtualization technology.

WHERE IS CLIMATE CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE INDIAN ENGLISH FICTION? (AMITAV GHOSH’S THE GREAT DERANGEMENT)
Inderpreet Kaur
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6910725
Abstract
Certificate
Due to climate change in India, the safety and sustainability of the tribal communities living aside Eastern Coasts are exposed to vulnerability. This demands a universal appeal from all corners of the life. To this, Amitav Ghosh employs fiction, as the best suited of all forms, to serve as a powerful weapon. In addition to this, Ghosh questions the elimination of climate consciousness as a genre in Indian Literature. The paper is written in an investigative mode, analyzing his concern regarding concealment of the truth in the realist mode of fiction, which becomes another reason for individuals’ ignorance towards it. The relationship between the literature and the physical environment is thought to be encouraged in such a way that the idea to preserve one’ environment becomes an implicit goal. Discussion on various issues ranging from one’s incapability to address the climate change, to the right kind of literature, has been tackled within the scope of a paper, yet the response to the climate derangement still remains unanswered. What is that which can help realize the humankind the objective of social commitment, is the sole purpose of the debate.

STRUCTURAL, ELECTRICAL AND THERMOELECTRIC POWER MEASUREMENT STUDIES OF POLYOL ROUTE SYNTHESIZED LI0.5FE2.5O4
B.V.Jadhav & R. P. Patila
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6910756
Abstract
Certificate
Lithium ferrite powder was synthesized by a novel polyol method. The X-ray diffraction results indicate that the synthesized nanocrystalline lithium ferrite have only spinel structure without the presence of other phase impurities. FT-IR data indicates two strong bands observed in spectrum which is well matched with spinel structure. The morphology and particle size of the spinel ferrite powder, as revealed by SEM analysis. It shows that the Li0.5Fe2.5O4 sample contain uniform and homogenous particles. The electrical behavior clearly indicates that the present ferrite have semiconductor like nature. Thermoelectric power measurement also confirms n-type semiconducting nature of lithium ferrite. A room temperature magnetization result shows a ferromagnetic behavior of the lithium ferrite. The present work describes the structural, electrical and magnetic properties of lithium ferrite

USE OF ELECTRICITY FOR DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES IN AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT
Dr. H. N. Kathare
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6910767
Abstract
Certificate
Electricity plays a vital role in the development of agriculture sector as well as rural economy. It
is one of the basic infrastructure facilities necessary for changing rural life. Electricity plays an
essential role in the shifting cropping pattern and increasing agricultural production and
productivity. Electrification has helped in changing the agrarian economy in a significant
manner. Electricity brings about a change in cropping pattern also. Farmers can shift crops from
low value to high value, which in turn helps to increase in the level of output and income also.
Generally, development of a country depends upon rural development and it mostly depends on
agricultural development. In recent year, modern agriculture requires electric power to make use
of modern technology. In most of the cases for the purpose of irrigation, electric pumps are being
used, instead of manpower, animal power and diesel engine. Therefore, electricity is more
convenient as compared to the other sources. Use of electricity leads to expansion of irrigated
area and ultimately it leads to more output and more employment opportunities. The use of
electricity brings about changes in entertainment facilities like radio, television, which are quite
effective media for educating masses.

An efficient method has been described for the synthesis of 1,8-naphthyridine derivatives. A reaction of 2-amino pyridine, malononitrile and aromatic aldehydes was carried out in presence of lanthanum chloride as catalyst at room temperature to produce ,8-naphthyridines. The short reaction time, mild reaction condition and excellent yield are the remarkable features of this method.

The climate of India is seasonal due to the unique natural structure of India. India has three seasons namely summer, winter and monsoon. Among them, in India, it rains from June to September from southwest monsoon winds. However, due to the irregular and wavelike nature of this rain, severe drought often occurs in Maharashtra along with many other states in India. Maharashtra government had to declare drought in 2002-03 in 11 districts of Maharashtra due to very low rainfall. 71 talukas in Solapur, Sangli, Satara, Pune, Ahmednagar, Nashik, Beed, Osmanabad, Aurangabad, Latur, Jalna districts were affected by drought. Water storage in drought-prone areas has decreased. It had an adverse effect on crop composition. Also there is a decrease in production per hectare.
