A DISCOURSE ON THE SOCIAL FORMATION DURING LATER VEDIC PERIOD IN EARLY INDIA
Dr. Manoj Kumar Dubey
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6915563
Abstract
Certificate
The hymns of the Rig Veda afford an interesting glimpse of the Aryan settlements in India. The Indo-Aryans were not originally agriculturalists. They were pastoral nomads, involved in cattle-rearing, cattle herding, breeding and capturing. The Indo-Aryans were skilled in bronze metallurgy and weaponry and went to battle in highly effective two-wheeled chariots. Their clan structure-a patriarchal tribal structure-was an effective form for mobilization for combat. The dominant occupational activity of the people was cattle rearing. Pastoral society relies more upon its animal wealth than on agricultural product. When we have numerous linguistic evidences for cattle rearing in the Rig Veda, we have very few references about agricultural activities. Most of the references to agriculture are of a later date. Barley is the only one grain indicated in the Rig Veda. They were familiar with the different stages of agricultural activities like sowing, harvesting and threshing. They might have used wooden plough and practices shifting cultivation. The main discourse of this paper is the economic developments and early social formation which took place in the north western part of India between 1500 B. C. to 1000 B.C. These centuries correspond to the early Vedic Age.

Abstract
Certificate
In Parbhani district 70 percentage of people’s occupation is farming. In 2001 census 68.17 percentage people were living in villages and they were depended upon the income gained by the farming for their livelihood. But climatically Parbhani district is located in rain shadow area or drought prone area. Soil of the district is comparatively of lesser quality, irrigation facilities are less, short and thorny forest patches etc. due to this reasons in the district less development of agriculture is found. There are three cropping seasons in study region, namely kharif, rabbi and summer. Kharif season begins in June or July and ends in September or October whereas rabbi season starts from March and end in may. Jowar, Bajra, gram, tur, groundnut and oil seeds are the major kharif crops grown in study region while Jowar, gram, and sunflower are rabbi crops. Fruits, Condiment, food grain crop, and vegetables are also produced in study region. Sugarcane are grown in study region in both kharif and rabbi seasons in Parbhani district.

A CASE STUDY OF THE EXPANSION OF KABIRPANTH IN VILLAGE TARAIYA
Dr.Purnendu Ranjan
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6915642
Abstract
Certificate
A micro- study, as conducted by me, to understand the processes of the expansion of the Kabirpanth in a village community, does help us to have a clear picture of how this movement had been operational at least until the end of the 20th century. For the purpose I selected a village named Taraiya and its neighbourhood situated in the present Madhubani district of Bihar. Taraiya, is situated in between two rivers-Dhaus and Paini, tributaries of the river Kamala. Culturally, village Taraiya lies in the central part of Mithila,1 a cultural zone which has had attracted scholars of different streams for studies. Passing through several vicissitudes of socio-political changes, people‟s socio-religious attitude and inclination also underwent certain changes, and the expansion of the Kabirpanth in the region, represents one strand among many others. Of course, Kabirpanth has been traced back to the medieval period of Indian history, but its spread in the area of my intensive case study in and around Taraiya cannot be located so far back. At the most, it can be traced back to the mid-19th century according to the current oral traditions prevailing there.

SPATIO-TEMPORAL PATTERN OF RURAL SEX RATIO IN KOLHAPUR DISTRICT
Dr. Navnath K.Bansode
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6915646
Abstract
Certificate
The sex ratio is usually defined as the number of females per thousand males. The sex ratio is a function of three basic factors, i.e. sex ratio at birth, differentials in mortality between sexes at different stages of life and sex selective migration. Sex ratio is an index of the socio-economic conditions prevailing in an area and is a useful tool for regional analysis. The knowledge of sex ratio is essential for understanding the employment and consumption patterns and social needs of a community. The separate data for male and female are important for various types of planning and for the analysis of other demographic characteristics, such as natality, mortality, migration, marital status and economic etc. Therefore an attempt is made here to study spatio-temporal pattern of sex ratio in Kolhapur district. The paper is based on secondary data. To analyze spatial pattern of sex ratio the tahsils of Kolhapur district are grouped into four categories on the basis of mean and standard deviation. The study reveals that the very low rural sex ratio is recorded in Karvir and Panhala tahsils due to urbanization and in migration.

THE IMPLICATIONS OF BALANCING AN ACADEMIC CAREER AND MOTHERHOOD FOR WOMEN IN HIGHER EDUCATION
Dr.Piku Chowdhury
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6915678
Abstract
Certificate
In the twenty-first century, increasing numbers of girls and women are moving into intellectual and occupational spheres traditionally seen to be masculine (Francis 2000). These changes involve the performance of new forms of femininity, a distancing from variants traditionally perceived as normative and the adoption of qualities previously viewed as masculine. Yet this new reinvented femininity is just as regulated as previous forms of femininity. Girls and women are clearly paying a price for their success, as women develop illnesses of stress previously only seen in men. The downside of female 'success' is apparent in the double and sometimes triple shift of many female academicians juggling work, child care and further study. This paper remains a humble attempt at exploring the myth of higher education being conducive to female professionals and the reason behind a colossal loss of valuable national intellectual resources in the higher education sector and suggest newperspectives with the prevalent social system in mind.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: THE ROLE OF UNIVERSITIES IN SEMINAL THE FUTURE
Dr. Amardeep D. Jadhav
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6915694
Abstract
Certificate
Certainly, sustainable development has to be an essential part of strategy for the future development of the education sector in India. The main objective of this concept is to make the higher education to be recognized as the foremost contributor to society's efforts to achieve sustainability. Acquiring sustainable development needs cooperation among sectors and institutions, and the involvement of all the concerned partners and individuals. Nevertheless, there are a lot of diverse ways people and institutions can work together to share knowledge, to advocate and to take action. These consist of campaigning networks, communities of practice, knowledge networks, public-private partnerships, multi- stakeholder partnerships and strategic alliances. These have all become vital mechanisms for pin pointing priorities, conducting combined research and for appealing other stakeholders in initiating practicable solutions. By means of combining their efforts, members of networks and partnerships are able to have a bigger impact on policy and practice than they would have on their own. An infrastructure building is one of the meager elements of sustainable development and engineering universities play vital role to spread it inconsonance with the social needs. There is great need to establish practical liaison between the engineering sector and the social development sector, it is important for the establishment and maintenance of social cohesion for building the infrastructure for the well being of the masses. This paper highlights the reasons which make the institutions of higher education in India suitable contenders to lead the notion of Education for Sustainable Development. There is no reason that the achievement of this objective cannot be assured exclusively and without proper linkages with government, communities, NGOs and private sector.

ROLE OF NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS (NGOS) IN ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
Dr. Eknath Shankarrao Mundhe
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6915702
Abstract
Certificate
At the beginning of the 21st century environmental issues have emerged as a major concern for the welfare of people. In India, the concept of environment protection can be seen starting from the period of Vedas. Today we come across various non-governmental organizations whose concerns are focused on various areas such as social issues, health issues, and environmental issues. There are large number of NGOs in India and other countries that are exclusively working for environmental, protection, conservation, and awareness. The number of these non-governmental organizations which are actively involved in environmental protection in our country is, in fact, more than in any of the developing country. These organizations extend beyond their own community and can reach places where Governmental agencies cannot sometimes reach. Though, recent years have seen a proliferation of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with a mission to help in redressing various social and environmental problems, the effectiveness of these organizations in carrying out their stated goals is rarely assessed or critically examined. NGOs can sensitize policy makers about the local needs and priorities. They can often intimate the policy makers about the interests of both the poor and the ecosystem as a whole. In providing training facilities, both at community and government levels, NGOs can play a significant role. They can also contribute significantly by undertaking research and publication on environment and development related issues. It is necessary to support and encourage genuine, small, local level NGOs in different parts of the country which can provide much needed institutional support specific to the local needs.

A STUDY OF FRUSTRATION TOLERANCE AND MENTAL HEALTH AMONG ADOLESCENTS IN RELATION TO SOME DEMOGRAPHIC VARIABLES
Sudesh
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6915747
Abstract
Certificate
Health has become a topic of increasing interest to investigators in the social and behavioral sciences over the past couple of decade. Health may be seen as a summation of functional capabilities (freedom from) unpleasant sensations or symptoms, and available reserves and resources, which can be drawn upon or mobilized to fend off threats to health. Frustration occurs when a person is unable to reach the desired goal on account of some barrier or other, or due to absence of desired and appropriate goals. Economic fluctuations can also thwart the achievement of desired goals and may create frustrations. The source of frustration may be internal also, resulting from his own incapability and inadequacy. Inability to achieve one’s goal may also lead to self-devaluation and inferiority. Frustration may lead to downfall and deviation because it wastes precious thinking ability and attention, which otherwise would have been used elsewhere in constructive and/or creative work. The purpose of this paper is to study the frustration and mental health of adolescents and relationship between frustration tolerance and mental health of adolescents.

KASHMIR MILITANCY AND THE KASHMIRI PANDITS

Abstract
Certificate
Kashmiri Pandits are the original inhabitants of the Kashmir valley. The beginning of the 14th century and the period that followed witnessed so many incidents in the life of the Pandits. Origin of Kashmiri Pandit community covers more than a period of five thousand years. Kashmiri Pandits are Saraswat Brahmins. According to Kalahana, his Rajatarangini explained the origin of the community their beliefs, customs, traditions, Socio-Economic situations along with certain festivals of Pandits. Before Independence, Kashmiri Pandits lived a peaceful life in the valley and enjoyed all rights available to the citizens. They formed an important part of Kashmiriyath. During the communal flare-ups of the partition, their land lordship over agricultural land got eschewed under the tenancy and land reforms initiated by the people’s government in 1952 affected a large number of Pandit families. In course of time Pakistan’s militancy operation destroyed the peace and unity of secular minded Kashmiris and minority Pandit community. After independence; the Pakistanis fought more than four wars with India. These war games between India and Pakistan destroyed the peace and security, not only of the Kashmir Pandit community, but the whole Kashmir valley. Human rights abuses have been a cause as well as a consequence of the insurgency in Kashmir. During the year that followed Pakistan sent guerillas to Kashmir in 1965 under “operation Gibraltar” which lead to a full-scale war. Six years later another war between India and Pakistan resulted in the bifurcation of Pakistan and formation of Bangladesh and subsequent signing of Shimla Agreement under which both countries were to resolve the issue bilaterally. The minority Pandits of the valley became the victims of this operation and they were gunned down indiscriminately, hanged or murdered by other brutal means. Torture, molestation and rape, threatening letters and telephone calls, posters and bit notices pasted on doors and warnings through newspapers for the whole community to leave the valley within short and specified time. Nearly Three thousand members of this community have been done to death, and nearly three hundred thousand forced into exile. Thousands of civilians got killed and many more injured in Kashmir as a result of military operations. Militancy had taken more than 500000 innocent woman, men and children lives. Every year Central & State Governments spending cores for creating everlasting peace and up-liftment of Pandit communities. But still they are living like a scared rabbits in various parts of India like refugees.

Abstract

Transfer refers to the effect of learning one kind of material or skill or the
ability to learn something new. The newly acquired skills must be transferred
when it is transferred into one‟s active teaching repertoire. The condition of
classroom are sufficiently different from training situation that one ca not
simply walk from the training session in to the classroom with the skill
completely ready for use. The skills have to be changed to fit classroom
conditions. This is truer in the case of unfamiliar skill. To master a new teaching
strategy, teacher needs to develop mastery in the skills or strategies. This can be
accomplished in training setting. Then the teachers need to acquire executive
control over it including ability to use it appropriately and to adopt it into
classroom setting (Joyce, B & Showers 1988) therefore believe that transfer of
skills is actually a new set of learning. The mastery of the new strategy that the
distinction between horizontal and vertical transfer becomes important.

WETLANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY: A CASE STUDY
Mr. Sunil Kumar Singh
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6915948
Abstract
Certificate
Wetlands are ecosystems or habitats for specific plants and animals that are saturated with water. The presence or absence of water determines their formation, processes and characteristics. Wetlands are of great importance to man and nature as it purifies water, reduces flood, stores water, prevents soil erosion, supports varied biodiversities etc. Starting about thousands of years in urban areas of the world and typically a few hundred years ago in most other coastal areas, humanity has profoundly impacted, degraded or destroyed many coastal wetlands worldwide by direct physical degradation and pollution. Ironically, reduced coastal wetland increases threat to human safety at the same time, shoreline development exposes populations to coastal hazards such as tsunamis, erosion, flooding, storm waves and surges. This paper tries to evaluate the importance of Wetlands and the present scenario of wetlands and the steps taken by the world community to protect and preserve it. This paper illustrates the present scenario of wetlands by The Case study of Pallikaranai Wetlands of Chennai which presents the best example of the dismal state of wetlands in-spite of numerous efforts taken by academicians, environmentalists and the local community to protect it.

India is a multi-cultural, multi-religious, multilingual country. Cultural values, customs and traditions make India unique amongst the nations of the world. It is vital to have awareness about various cultures. The world is facing numerous problems such as dissension and intolerance, destruction of the natural environment, wars and poverty, the role of culture particularly in education, cannot be over emphasized. It is now widely recognized that the integration of cultural heritage with the curriculum will make the young aware of the multicultural and pluralistic perspectives. The main purpose of the investigation was to study and compare the level of multi- culturalism awareness of secondary school students of three education boards. The sample comprised of secondary schools. Stratified random sampling technique was used for the selection of standard VIII students from each school. Total sample of students and teachers were 600 from all three educational boards – SSC, CBSE & ICSE. Multi- Culturalism Awareness Test for students was prepared by the researcher. The findings of the study showed that (a) Majority of the students (about three-fourth) belonging to all the three education boards, viz., SSC, CBSE and ICSE, demonstrates a moderate level of Multi-Culturalism awareness. (b) Majority of the teachers (about four-fifth) belonging to all the three education boards, viz., SSC, CBSE and ICSE, demonstrates a moderate level of Multi-Culturalism Awareness .The Multi- Culturalism Awareness Test mean score of students of the ICSE board was the highest followed by CBSE board and SSC board in that order. The findings implied that curriculum of the school board influenced Multi-Culturalism Awareness of students and hence schools affiliated to the SSC board need to modify their curriculum in order to enhance the Multi- Culturalism Awareness of students for a more peaceful society.

HIGHER EDUCATION IN 21ST CENTURY:VISION & STRATEGIES
Dr. Vijay K. Bile
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6937187
Abstract
Certificate
Higher education has given ample proof of its viability over the centuries and of its ability to change and to induce change and progress in society. Owing to the scope and pace of change, society has become increasingly knowledge-based so that higher learning and research now act as essential components of cultural, socio-economic and environmentally sustainable development of individuals, communities and nations. Education is a fundamental pillar of human rights, democracy, sustainable development, peace, and shall therefore become accessible to all throughout life and that, measures are required to ensure co-ordination and co-operation across and between the various sectors, particularly between general, technical and professional education as well as between universities, colleges and technical institutions. In this context, the solution of the problems faced in the twenty-first century will be determined by the vision of the future society and by the role that is assigned to higher education. In other words, it is the duty of higher education to ensure that the values and ideals of a culture of peace prevail and that the intellectual community should be mobilized to that end.

Dr. Vijay K. Bile
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6937222
Abstract
Certificate
The literature search is a very significant step in the research process. Research is carried out in order to inform people with new knowledge or discovery. However, it is not to be expected that everybody would willingly believe what one is tackling in his/her whole research paper. Thus, what one can do to make his/her research more credible will be to support them with other works which have spoken about the same topic that one has for his/her research. This is where literature review comes in. A review of related literature is to be made to gain a proper perception and clarity about the research topic. In the historical and contemporary context, the review of research studies in the related area has been useful in understanding appropriate tools and techniques that can be used in appreciating the various evidences generated and policy prescriptions suggested there in.
