Heena Samani
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6944396
Abstract
Certificate
With a much hyped discussion and research on Learning Disabilities (LD) i.e Dyslexics among the
educators and medical profession, it is of immense importance to study the root cause of it.
Educators in regular classrooms come across various situations where a Learning Disabled child fails to
perform in the academics and is an underachiever in the grade level skills, a lagging child compared to
his peer group. Is it the excuse given by the child for not studying, non-performing or is it the mess in the
brain structure which does not allow the child to perform.
Considering the impact on academic achievement, the study of the neuro model understanding from
educational perspective proves to be prudent

n the early Vedic period women enjoyed equal status and rights. However, the end of ancient times and other external rulers can be seen punishing women according to their religion. But in an exceptional situation, some women tried to bring equality in the social states while expressing their animosity. In the Middle Ages, women occupied many different social roles. During the Middle Ages, the period of European history from the 5th century to the 15th century, women played some important leadership roles, along with the roles of wife, mother, farmer, artisan, and nun. In medieval India, women faced more or less slavery and confinement. The status of women has faced many major changes in the last few centuries. From the status of equality with men in ancient times to the medieval life and the promotion of equal rights by many reformers, the history of women in India has been quite dynamic. In modern India, women are occupying top positions like President, Prime Minister, Speaker of Lok Sabha, Leader of Opposition, etc.

FACTORS LEADING TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN LOW- INCOME RESIDENTIAL AREAS: A CASE STUDY OF TUMKUR CITY, KARNATAKA.
Dr. KUMARA
DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6969056
Abstract
Certificate
Violence against women and girls continues to be a global epidemic that kills, tortures, and maims – physically, psychologically, sexually, and economically. It is one of the most pervasive of human rights violations, denying women and girl’s equality, security, dignity, self-worth, and their right to enjoy fundamental freedoms. This paper focuses specifically on domestic violence – the most prevalent yet relatively hidden and ignored form of violence against women and girls. This paper is thus based on a study carried out to establish the factors contributing to domestic violence among women in low-income residential areas in Tumkur, Karnataka. More specifically, the study sought to: analyze the demographic characteristics of women and their husbands included in the survey, establish and describe characteristics of domestic violence and its ravages and identify factors leading to domestic violence in the low-income residential areas. A descriptive research design was adopted. Data was collected using a questionnaire, which was administered to women and girls found in households in selected Tumkur low-income residential areas. Simple random sampling technique was applied in picking the respondents in each Household. The sample size was 90. Each of the six selected low-income residential areas in Tumkur provided 15 women and girls for the research. The findings of the study are that majority of women are experiencing domestic violence, they are abused mostly by people known to them and more so their husbands, they are mostly verbally abused, most of the women abused are of low educational background, are housewives and entirely depend on their husbands for their survival. The study also observed economic hardships and incidences of extramarital affairs contributes largely to the case of domestic violence in low income residential areas in Tumkur. It is, therefore, the recommendation of this paper that efforts should be made by the government to ensure that women are economically empowered so that they do not rely in men who take advantage and continually abuse them. Furthermore, it is suggested that stiffer punishments should be mated to perpetrators of domestic violence.

DOI : 10.5281/amierj.6944426
Abstract

Social networking software is still in its adolescence. Users are becoming sophisticated enough to realise that there is little point in bringing people together just for the sake of bringing people together and they are demanding more. Nevertheless, it is an appealing and engaging environment once users have found their tribe. But it has been observed that security and privacy issues have not been seriously handled by these social networking sites. For example some sites are allowing their third parties to access the personal information of their users without bothering of the privacy. The list of the privacy risks with undesired access to profile information is continuously growing from the identity theft, spam to cyber bullying.Users need to be careful with what and how they reveal details of themselves. The challenge for users is to learn to judge precisely the amount of information they should divulge to attract a similar person and the amount they should reveal to protect themselves from exploitation.
