THE EVOLVING ROLE OF A BUDDHIST CHAPLAIN: BRIDGING SPIRITUAL WISDOM IN DIVERSE COMMUNITIES
Ritesh Prakash Ovhal
DOI : 10.5281/AMIERJ.10518543
Abstract
Certificate
In a world marked by cultural diversity and interfaith
interactions, the role of a Buddhist chaplain extends
beyond traditional temple spaces to touch the lives of
individuals in both Buddhist and non-Buddhist
communities. These chaplains play a crucial role in
influencing and supporting individuals not only within
Buddhist communities but also those that adhere to
different belief systems. The traditional role of a
Buddhist chaplain within the temple has evolved, with
chaplains now actively engaging with the broader
community, acknowledging that spiritual guidance is a
continuous aspect of individuals' lives. Their
adaptability is a defining characteristic, as they
understand that the spiritual, emotional, and ethical
needs of individuals are diverse and context-dependent.
They tailor their approaches, recognizing the unique
challenges faced by individuals within different
communities and responding with flexibility and
understanding. The primary role of a Buddhist chaplain
is to provide spiritual insight, sharing the wisdom
embedded in Buddhist teachings while remaining
sensitive to the diverse spiritual frameworks present in
their audience. By offering a perspective rooted in
spiritual principles, chaplains contribute to the
enrichment of individuals' inner lives. Emotional
support is provided by Buddhist chaplains beyond the
intellectual realm, offering a compassionate hand to
acknowledge the human experience in all its facets.
Ethical guidance is provided by chaplains, who
recognize the universal applicability of ethical
principles and contribute to the moral development of
individuals, emphasizing values that resonate with the
broader human experience. In essence, the evolving
role of a Buddhist chaplain is a dynamic response to the
intricacies of our diverse world. Their ability to bridge
spiritual wisdom across communities, adapt to varied
needs, and foster understanding makes them invaluable
contributors to the tapestry of global society. Dr
Monica Sanford in her book ‘Kalyṇamitra: A Model for
Buddhist Spiritual Care’ define the term Chaplaincy as
Right Livelihood for Buddhists who wish to integrate
their practice and professional lives. But in
contemporary society the role of a Buddhist Chaplain
is continuously evolving. Its role is not limited for any
particular sect or tradition it influences all individuals
as well as communities. In other word Buddhist
Chaplaincy also known as well-wisher. In early
Buddhism the Pali term Kalyāṇamitta is very crucial it
means well-wisher. The term Kalyāṇamitta needs to be
explored and comprehend in a proper manner as many
of the people are not aware about Buddhist Chaplaincy
in proper manner i.e. Kalyāṇamitta.

TO STUDY OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Ambhore Gayatri Suresh & Prof. Dr Santosh Ram Pagare
DOI : 10.5281/AMIERJ.10518578
Abstract
Certificate
Thies paper studied in recent times, been an increasing interest in understanding corporate social (and environmental)
responsibility (CSR) and, in particular, CSR reporting in developing countries. However, many of these studies fail to
investigate fully the contextual factors that influence CSR and reporting in those countries, preferring to rely on
theories and hypotheses developed from studies undertaken in the West, particularly the US, UK and Australasia.
It may be argued that this is appropriate as many emerging economies are experiencing growth and moving towards
having a more market-based orientation. Notwithstanding this, a large number of these countries have an entirely
different socio-political environment, with different political regimes, legal systems and cultural influences. These
factors have a significant effect on the applicability of theories such as stakeholder theory, legitimacy theory and
accountability theory, which are commonly used to explain the phenomenon of reporting.
In State Capitalist countries, such as China, an important influence on companies is the political ideology that
underpins the nation’s government. The nature and impact of ideology and hegemony in China has been under-studied
and, therefore, investigating how the ideology, and competing forces that may mitigate its influence, manifest
themselves in Chinese reporting are essential. In the Middle East, countries such as Saudi Arabia have no free press,
are ruled by a royal family, have a market dominated by the oil industry, and potential religious influences. Such sociocultural differences mean societies develop different understandings of concepts such as sustainability and social
responsibility. Finally, countries such as Sri Lanka have some similarities to other developing countries, but their
economy is set against a background of a recent civil war – operating in a post-conflict economy is a factor rarely
considered in social and environmental disclosure, yet has important influence on policy in these areas.

DOI : 10.5281/AMIERJ.10540292
Abstract

In the dynamic landscape of financial markets, the investment behavior of individuals plays a pivotal role in shaping
economic outcomes and influencing the overall stability of the financial system. Understanding the intricate interplay
between an individual's perception, professional background, and their investment decisions has become increasingly
crucial in the contemporary financial environment. This research paper delves into the nuanced realm of investment
behavior by conducting a comprehensive perception study among individual professionals. Investment decisions are
multifaceted and influenced by a myriad of factors, including risk tolerance, financial knowledge, market conditions,
and personal experiences. However, the influence of one's professional background on investment behavior is a
relatively unexplored area in the existing literature. As professionals often possess unique perspectives, skillsets, and
risk appetites, studying their investment behavior provides a valuable lens through which we can gain insights into the
broader dynamics of financial decision-making.
The financial landscape has witnessed unprecedented volatility and complexity in recent years, marked by global
economic uncertainties, technological advancements, and evolving regulatory frameworks. Against this backdrop, the
investment behavior of professionals becomes increasingly relevant, as they navigate these challenges while managing
personal financial portfolios. This research aims to bridge the gap in understanding how the perception of individual
professionals towards various investment instruments, risk assessment, and market dynamics shapes their investment
decisions.

SIGNIFICANCE OF BIODIVERSITY ACT-2002 AND FOREST RIGHT ACT-2006 IN THE SOCIAL WORK EDUCATION
Rajendra Nannavare
DOI : 10.5281/AMIERJ.10540406
Abstract
Certificate
It is observed that the focus of social legislation curricula in many educational institutions in India is mainly on
individuals dealing with personal difficulties. However, Community Development is also an equally important aspect
of social work practices. Those practices also need to be focused, and it is essential to incorporate more communitybased legislation in the social work education curriculum. It also needs to be based on rural and tribal community
development as well as urban development in this regards. It is notable that very few laws are included in social work
education related to the communities.
In the perspective of Biodiversity Conservation and Protection as well as to recognize the historical injustice with
forest communities two historical Acts were passed unanimously in the parliament of India: 1: The Biodiversity Act
2002 and 2. The Forest Right Act 2006. Both these acts are very significant in the development of the community and
protection of ecological balance. Therefore, it is essential to incorporate these two acts into the curriculum of social
work in order to focus social work practices towards the protection of forest and ecological balance. This paper focuses
on the significance of the Bio-diversity Act-2002 and the Forest Right Act-2006 in social work education.
