LORD OF THE FLIES THROUGH A PSYCHOANALYTIC LENS.
Ananya Singh
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7229469
Abstract
Certificate
Lord of the flies is a classic novel written by Golding in 1954. The story closely follows the
journey of school boys accidentally stranded on an island, indefinitely, due to a plane crash. With an
injured pilot and no salvation on the horizon, the boys organise themselves into a semblance of a society.
Still guileless and untouched by the politics of the outer world, the boys make their own rules which
surprisingly indicate patterns similar to the socio-political backdrop of this story. The key characters of
this poignant and fresh work of fiction are Ralph, Piggy, Jack, Simon and Roger.
The periphery characters act as symbols of minute changes occurring, together snowballing and
leading to the savagery these boys regress to.
Through the lens of psychoanalysis, the researcher aims to systematically dismantle the make-up
of the main characters of this literary work and identify their motives and motivation.
The researcher will primarily use Freud’s compartmentalization of the psyche into three broad
constituents, namely, the Id, Ego and Superego to understand the principles governing these individuals.
Through basic study of the Psychoanalytic Model we understand, the Id is an inborn part of one’s psyche
which is instinctive. It operates on the principle of seeking pleasure and avoiding pain. This part resides in
one’s unconscious and if not modified by the ego and superego, it results in expression which may subject
others to harm.

PARAMOUNT ROLES OF WETLAND BIRDS FROM KOLHAPUR CITY AS BIOINDICATORS OF ECOSYSTEM HEALTH
Dr. Siddharth Ghatvisave
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7229571
Abstract
Certificate
Over the year’s birds have been used as bioindicators of environment, pollution, ecosystem health, contamination globally. Bioindicators are species used to appraise the health conditions of the environment and they are capable of determining the environmental integrity if their functions and populations are put into consideration. Birds are good indicators because they are very easy to detect and their presence is easy to observe in any environment. Apart from that, in classification individual species are easy to identify with their wide distribution. The response to changing environment is by changing their composting behaviour and population. The reduction in number of migratory birds in the three wetland sites and number of actual wetland birds was also less. This may be due to large influence of human activities in these three wetland sites, which disturbs the natural breeding and nesting sites of migratory and local birds. Therefore, using birds as bioindicators is necessary for ecological evaluation which promotes conservation of bird species

Dr. Vilas G. Jadhav
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7229596
Abstract
Certificate
This paper aims to explore some ways that ‘smart’ libraries and information services in the age of new
technologies. As today’s libraries are mostly dependents upon the skills of the librarians as well as
transformational impact of the integrated learning. Role of future librarians will be governed by the new
technology of Automation, Digitization, immersive technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), VR,
Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics etc. The paper is highlighting the Online Learning and Machine
Learning since the librarians are working as a conduit for digital capabilities. Outlines of new concept of
smart libraries can be described in four dimensions such as smart governance, smart services, smart
place and smart people. The smart library concept does not constitute a unique model or project but a
process, a way of how to get things done that is less linear, less structured and more creative and
innovative. The paper concludes that in smart age the libraries are harnessing the power of new
technologies and they are the melt pot of ideas.
