COMPARISON OF RAINFALL ESTIMATES OF EV1 AND LP3 DISTRIBUTIONS FOR ESTIMATION OF PEAK FLOOD DISCHARGE USING RATIONAL METHOD
N. Vivekanandan
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7189740
Abstract
Certificate
Estimation of Peak Flood Discharge (PFD) at a desired location on a river is important for planning, design and
management of hydraulic structures. For ungauged basin, rainfall depth becomes an important input in derivation of PFD.
So, rainfall depth can be estimated through Extreme Value Analysis (EVA) by fitting of probability distribution to the series
of recorded rainfall data. In the present study, Extreme Value Type-1 (EV1) and Log Pearson Type-3 (LP3) distributions
are adopted for estimation of rainfall at Dhaulakuan rain gauge station. Maximum Likelihood Method (MLM) is used for
determination of parameters of the distributions. Goodness-of-Fit tests such as Anderson-Darling and Chi-square are
applied for checking the adequacy of fitting of probability distributions to the recorded data. Root mean square error is
used for the selection of most suitable distribution for estimation of rainfall. The estimated 1-day maximum rainfall
obtained from EV1 distribution at Dhaulakuan station is used to compute 1-hour maximum value of distributed rainfall
adopting CWC guidelines. The study suggests the estimated PFD from rational method could be used for design of flood in
river protection works of Yamuna river basin.

The role of governments is very significant under the principle of welfare state. Due to different
reasons, financial pressure on governments is increasing and in other hand citizens are also not satisfied on the
services provided by local bodies. In this situation, the Municipal Corporation which was directly converted
from Village Panchyat to Municipal Corporation on 1st Jan., 1992 and received various awards. So, I am very
eager to study that how corporation is managing their financial operations? How is the revenue pattern? How

DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7189804
Abstract

Modern life is full of hassles, deadlines, frustrations, and demands. For many people, stress is so
commonplace that it has become a way of life. In the organization stress occurs when an employee perceives a
situation to be too strenuous to handle, and therefore threatening to his or her well-being. However stress at the
workplace is unavoidable due to the demands of the contemporary work environment. But Stress isn’t always
bad. In small doses, it can help employees perform under pressure and motivate them to do their best. It may
even keep workers alert, able to work and learn, depending on the available resources and personal
characteristics. But when one is constantly running in emergency mode, their mind and body pay the price.
Stress can damage an employees' health and the business performance.
Employees can protect themselves by recognizing the signs and symptoms of stress and taking steps to
reduce its harmful effects.
This paper on “ORGANISATIONAL STRESS MANAGEMENT” is a secondary research study to
understand what causes organizational stress, its symptoms, its effects and finally how to cope up with
organizational stress so as to have quality organizational life.

Dr. Sarla Nirankari
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7189862
Abstract
Certificate
The present study aims at finding whether there is significant impact of parents teacher meeting on the
performance of perspective teachers. For this purpose a sample of 195 pupil teachers was selected randomly from Sant
Baba Bhag Singh Institute of Education Jalandhar. The marks obtained in the house test were taken indicators of academic
performance. The impact of successive parents teacher meeting were compared with the results of final tests.Analysis of
results suggests the marks of final tests were significantly higher than house tests.
