A STUDY OF RELATIONSHIP OF VALUES AND JOB SATISFACTION OF SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS

The present study was undertaken to analyse the values (theoretical, economic, aesthetic, social,
political and religious) and job satisfaction of male and female secondary school teachers. The sample was
selected randomly from various Government Secondary/ Senior Secondary Schools in district Fatehabad,
Haryana. The data was collected with the help of Job Satisfaction Scale developed and validated by Dr.(Mrs.)
Meera Dixit and Teacher Values Inventory developed and validated by Dr.(Mrs.) Harbhajan L.Singh and Dr.
S.P.Ahluwalia. The collected data was analysed by using mean, standard deviation, t-ratio and pearson product
moment correlation. No significant correlation was found between job satisfaction and values (theoretical,
economic,aesthetic,social,political and religious) of secondary school teachers. Between male and female
secondary school teachers, no significant difference was found for theoretical, economic, aesthetic, political
and social values, while for religious values difference was found to be significant. Male and female secondary
school teachers do not differ significantly on job satisfaction

as common as they once were. Breakdown of joint family system and huge migration of rural
men- folk to urban and suburban clusters have resulted in the emergence of nuclear families and
increase of women headed household. All these changes have played a transforming trick with
both the social and physical environments enjoyed by the child (Youssef, N. & Hertler, C.B.
1984).

Due to modernization the values are declining day by day. Education is meant for enhancing
the values among the masses but the realm of education is that the educational institutions are not
fulfilling their duties. The teacher is meant for the proper growth of the students. In the modern world
there is no harmony between the outer life of action and the inner life emotions. We also find that there
is a crisis of character owing to deterioration of values in social, economic, cultural, moral and
religious spheres of man.
Education is a powerful instrument that develops the desired and undesired values in the
youth. Even though the main focus of education system is to inculcate many more values such as moral
values, spiritual values, economic values, social values, health values, recreational values, aesthetic
values etc., due to materialistic (increasing conflicts in life) prominence among the masses that the
spiritual values. So it the need of the hour that we should join hands to develop the values.

The foundation of any organization is its culture. Organisational Culture is a
unique constellation of values, belief, vision and mission which is created, inculcated,
shared and enriched by the people working there. Every corporate organisation has its own
culture with varied dynamics. Can schools be far behind when they are microcosms of
activity? With administrative units, teaching and non teaching staff, students, parents and
attached services schools cater to a number of small organisational structures within the
main organisation. It is not a surprise that schools have developed organisational cultures
in them. There are mainly three types of educational board in Mumbai city viz S.S.C,
C.B.S.E and I.C.S.E. The present study focuses on to study which type of Organisational
culture exists and preferred in an educational organization with respect to the dimensions -
Power culture, Role culture, Achievement culture and Support culture. Every organization
has some combination of these four basic organizational cultures. For this study data was
collected through a reliable and valid tool which was administered on a sample of 570
secondary school teachers of Mumbai. This research paper is a report of the secondary
school teachers’ perception of the existing and preferred culture in S.S.C, C.B.S.E and
I.C.S.E boards.

THE EDUSAT NETWORK IN SUPPORTING THE EDUCATION SYSTEM OF TRIPURA

The pivotal role of education as an instrument of social change by altering the human
perspective and transforming the traditional mindset of society is well recognized. The
universalisation of education has become the top priority, especially for the developing countries. But
the extension of equality education to remote and rural regions becomes a Herculean task for a large
country like India with multi-lingual and multi-cultural population separated by vast geographical
distances, and in many instances, inaccessible terrain. Since independence, India has seen substantial
increase in the number of educational institutions at primary, secondary and higher levels as well as
the student enrolment. But the lack of adequate rural educational infrastructure and non- availability
of good teachers in sufficient numbers adversely affect the efforts made in education. Satellites can
establish the connectivity between urban educational institutions with adequate infrastructure
imparting quality education and the large number of rural and semi-urban educational institutions
that lack the necessary infrastructure. EDUSAT is essentially dedicated to meet the felt-need for an
interactive satellite-supported learning and act as an interface between face-to-face and open flexible
learning. The small state of Tripura has been making use of EDUSAT since 2007. EDUSAT network in
Tripura has helped in taking education to the door steps of the students studying in insurgency prone
areas. The present study aims to study the necessity of EDUSAT network in providing support to the
education system of Tripura. It also attempts to share the experiences about the prospects of this
technological boon and the major challenges faced in materializing the objectives set towards
imparting education.

their attitudes/ opinions on subjects like education and marriage. The limitation of the study is that no comparative
indices for women studying in co-educational colleges has been taken, which can be a scope for further study.

The present work is aimed at assessing the ground water quality near adjoining area of Kalbadevi estuary at
20 sampling location and analyzed for physical and chemical parameters. Groundwater in the coastal areas is
relatively vulnerable to the contamination of seawater intrusion, which makes it unsuitable for drinking
proposes. The present study reveals that there is intrusion of seawater in groundwater adjoining Kalbadevi
estuary as parameters like chlorides, hardness and dissolved solids are high level.

Teacher education means professional preparation of teachers. It is not merely training of
teachers but it is something deeper than mere teacher-training (Deb, 2004). It means the
acquisition of knowledge, skills and ability which helps a teacher to discharge his professional
duties and responsibilities effectively and efficiently and also reshaping the attitudes, habits and
personality of teacher. But as per NCTE Act 1993 the term "Teacher education" means
programmes of education, research and training of persons for equipping them to teach at preprimary,
primary, secondary and senior secondary stages in schools and includes non-formal
education, part-time education, adult education and correspondence education.
