IMPACT OF COVID –19 ON SMALL BUSINESS IN INDIA
Dr. Kaluram B. Dhore
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7933073
Abstract
Certificate
Studies and surveys showed that approximately 95% firms were impacted negatively due to national lockdown imposed
in April 2020, 70% of businesses remained disrupted till August 2020. Even after progressive unlocking, reports
suggest that almost 40% businesses remained interrupted till the end of February 2021. One of the prime drivers behind
growth story of Indian economy is SMEs. over the past few decades, SME sector, comprising of service industry,
manufacturing, packaging, infrastructure, food processing, IT and chemicals has developed as the most dynamic source
of growth of Indian economy. In recent years the MSMEs sector has shown higher growth rate than industrial sector. This
sector not only offers huge employment but also contributes in regional balance by generating industrialisation to remote
rural and backward areas. According to MSME Ministry data released on May 16, 2021, there are around 6.3 crore
MSMEs in India which contributes approximately 29% towards country’s GDP by its national and international trade.
This sector account for nearly 50 per cent of the country’s exports. As per national sample survey 73 Round (2015-16)
MSME sector has offered around 11.10 crore jobs out of which 3.6 crore have been in manufacturing sector, 3.9 crore in
trade and 3.7 crore in other services. Considering all these facts and figures, it is quite understood that for achieving the
target of becoming a $5 trillion economy by 2025 growth of SMEs is crucial for India. The MSMEs sector has been one
of the most vulnerable sectors during pandemic because of its size, scale of business and availability of financial
resources.

Covid - 19 has shown to be a hazardous epidemic because it affected everyone in different ways, including physically,
mentally, and financially. If we consider the service sector, it was also affected in many ways during the pandemic.
Some service industries were completely shut down associated with illness, but banking industries continued to operate
during the pandemic because banking is one of the most important sectors, and finance is said to be the country's
blood. The financial sector's operation is critical. So, the goal of my research is to discover what problems bank
personnel encounter during a pandemic crisis. The research region is the Badlapur Thane District, where I have
included both public and private sector banks to determine the impact of Covid 19 on bank employees work culture.

BLOCKCHAIN ROLEPLAY IN HEALTHCARE DURING PANDEMIC TIMES
Mr. Mustufa Nullwala & Ms. Shakuntala Kulkarni
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7933100
Abstract
Certificate
Coronavirus pandemic has engulfed the entire world since late 2019. The entire world is currently facing multifarious
problems due to the emergence of the Coronavirus pandemic. The sudden outbreak of a pandemic exposed the
unpreparedness of the healthcare system in dealing with such situations. In the near future, Blockchain technology
can prove to be very useful in managing the Coronavirus pandemic. A blockchain is a database that has data stored
in a block in encrypted format in decentralized and distributed networks. These blocks of blockchain are chained
together in chronological order. Digital assets are distributed rather than replicated or relocated, resulting in an
immutable record of the object. Blockchain technology can play an important role in the healthcare system.
Implementing innovative technology like blockchain in modern healthcare systems can prove to be very effective in the
planning of operations and resource deployment. In this paper, the use of blockchain in solving problems that arose
due to the Coronavirus pandemic is discussed.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PRACTICES IN THE TIMES OF COVID-19: A STUDY OF INDIA’S SELECTED MANUFACTURING SECTOR
Dr. Usha Vishnu Bhandare
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7933116
Abstract
Certificate
The term CSR was coined first in 1953, American economist Howard Bowen coined the term and he is often referred
to as the father of CSR. In the mid to late 1800, many industrialists donated the funds for the improvement in the field
of education and scientific research, but there was no such name given for such helping, it was informal. The main
purpose of corporate social responsibility is to give back to the community, take a part in charitable causes and provide
positive social value. Many private sectors, Public sectors and service sectors contributed to support needy people
during Covid-19 in terms of cash or kind. Hence, the purpose of this study is to explore the various definitions and
descriptions of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), focusing on the deployment of CSR practices during the Covid-
19 pandemic by the selected manufacturing sector in India. The data collected for the study were from secondary
sources. The outcome of the study revealed that the majority of the selected Indian manufacturing companies have
undertaken various preventive and mitigation measures for enabling the stakeholders to tide over the crisis.

ISSUES AND CHALLENGES IN SERVICE SECTOR: STUDY OF START-UP DURING COVID-19
Dr. Darshana Deepak Kadwadkar
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7933124
Abstract
Certificate
Start-ups play a key role in economies, but the COVID-19 crisis is reducing their creation, challenging their survival,
and limiting their growth. Business registrations have been dropping significantly in recent months and a missing
generation of new firms has significant implications for economic outcomes, notably employment. This point argues
that these can be mitigated by taking steps to support existing start-ups and the creation of new firms. Policymakers
should tackle short-term challenges, supporting short-term liquidity and availability of funding, but also and
importantly foster the ability of start-ups to grasp new business opportunities. Policies that reduce barriers to
entrepreneurship provide incentives for start-ups, and boost entrepreneurial potential could help speed up the recovery
and preserve aggregate employment in the long term.

ENVIRONMENTAL RELIEF DUE TO COVID-19 SITUATION
Ms. Gatha Sonawane
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7933865
Abstract
Certificate
In the year 2019 a novel contagious disease, COVID-19 was identified. Due to its infectious nature, this disease in no
time became a global Pandemic, hence, imposition of curfew/lockdown was the only feasible solution to break the
chain of transmission and stop the spread of COVID-19. The imposition of lockdown negatively impacted the economic
and social front, but it resulted in the slowdown of the anthropogenic activities, which offered some extra space for
the restoration of the environment. As human emptied the streets, nature took the control, resulting in cleaner air and
water, less noise pollution and relief for the wildlife. Human activities had been impacting the environment and
degrading its quality. The economic, commercial and industrial activities were causing the pollution of air, water and
soil, generation of plastic waste, threats to wildlife, etc. The anthropogenic activities were prominently responsible for
disturbing the various environmental parameters but, the lockdown brought succour to this problem. This study focuses
on the environmental relief observed after COVID-19 lockdown and how the environmental quality of India improved
post-pandemic

PANDEMICS AND MIGRATION: A HISTORICAL INTERPRETATION
Dr. Seema Jha
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7933869
Abstract
Certificate
History can teach us about the relationship between pandemics and migration. There is always an action-reaction
phenomenon involving the two. Migrations and mobility in general, foster epidemics and pandemics, which in turn
call for restrictions on the freedom of movement. Through invasions, trade, wars and pilgrimages, the movement of
people has always brought disease in faraway parts of the globe. At times migrants are also forced to leave their native
places in search of better opportunities and earnings leaving behind their families. Epidemics and pandemics have
almost always been used as opportunities to impose restrictions on new entries in several countries. Covid-19
pandemic was no exception to this trend in recent times.
An attempt is made in this paper to discuss the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the mobility of the migrants across
the globe. Population migration are potentially both affected by the impact of pandemic and were part of the response
to the pandemic

DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7933884
Abstract
Certificate
In this article, we will discuss how health is crucial and we should take time out of our busy schedules to look after
ourselves.
Being mentally and physically fit is the greatest asset one could have. No matter how wealthy a person might be if he
is sick or diseased, he cannot enjoy any luxury.
During the pandemic, people started taking their health seriously and we could feel the shift from materialist things to
the more valuable thing that is life.
The government put forth many provisions to prevent and mitigate covid, such as isolation centres, providing
subsidized food, medicines, transportation and the development of vaccines.
Though we as a nation tried our best to handle the global pandemic, but we all felt the cracks in our health care sector.
And should put forth measures to bring in advancement in this sector and to prepare ourselves for upcoming future
pandemics.

Mr. Jagdish Mohan Magar
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7933896
Abstract
Certificate
South African literature is incomplete without European colonization, the Apartheid era and post-apartheid writings.
Many authors tried to depict contemporary South Africa and the loss of human values. J.M. Coetzee as a prominent
writer create an embodiment of injustice, corruption, loss of human identity and racism that existed in contemporary
society. His novel Dusklands 1974 is an eye opener to the world, it put forth the idea of ‘injustice’ and bypassing the
values of a society can cost the other way round and may come back as a curse in your own life. The novel represents
South African colonization, exploitation and contemporary lifestyle with racial injustice, atrocities, and loss of human
values in the society.
This paper is an effort to comprehend the pain of natives who experienced colonization, dominance, and racial attacks.

DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.7933906
Abstract

During the 16th and 17th Centuries the trade increased many fold in India. The shipping industry’s progress played a
significant role in it. The topographical conditions of India also played an important part in it. India's long coastline
and its connectivity with south-east Asian nations from the Coromandel Coast provided ideal conditions for European
powers to do trade. The Europeans were in search of spices got attracted towards the East. India's trade relations with
Europe became friendlier in the 17th century. India's imports consisted of three categories- precious metals & stones,
raw materials and luxuries items like spices & perfumes. Later the new items traded with the Europeans were Indigo,
cotton, saltpetre, lac, rice, sugar, raw silk etc.
