B. R. AMBEDKAR’S CURRENCY INSIGHTS: A ROADMAP FOR STRENGTHENING THE RUPEE
Sunita Bijay Choudhury
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.15561274
Abstract
Certificate
India’s current economic landscape is characterized by persistent inflation, external vulnerabilities, and currency instability. In this context, revisiting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s economic thought offers valuable insights. Ambedkar’s contributions to monetary economics, particularly his ideas on currency and monetary policy, were both visionary and pragmatic, addressing the structural issues of an underdeveloped economy under colonial rule. His nuanced understanding of currency and exchange stability remains highly relevant today, especially in addressing the challenges of inflation and economic imbalance. Ambedkar’s broader economic philosophy was rooted in the ideals of social justice, inclusivity, and sustainable development. He strongly advocated for democratic state socialism, emphasizing state ownership of key industries, cooperative farming, the regulation of productive resources, and workers’ welfare. His economic ideology leaned toward pro-poor and pro-state development rather than aligning with capitalist interests. In light of the current economic challenges facing India, Ambedkar’s vision presents a compelling case for a more state-regulated, inclusive economic framework. This paper aims to explore the relevance of Ambedkar’s monetary thought and its potential to address contemporary currency-related issues in India.

The fluctuations of the Indian rupee during British colonial rule posed a major economic obstacle. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s publication, "The Problem of the Rupee: Its Origin and Its Solution," offered valuable perspectives on monetary instability and suggested potential solutions. Nevertheless, India was not the only nation facing challenges related to currency. Countries such as China, the United States, and numerous European nations also dealt with similar difficulties, including debates over bimetallism, currency devaluation, and economic dependence. This paper draws comparisons between India's currency challenges and those faced globally, examining historical circumstances, policy measures, and the long-term economic consequences. Further, it analyzes the remedies proposed by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to achieve stability for the Indian rupee. The study's objective is to offer insights into historical monetary challenges and their potential resolutions, with a particular emphasis on Ambedkar's contributions to India's monetary policy. Additionally, the study evaluates the significance of these historical monetary approaches for modern economic management.

Ms. Seema Shaikh, Dr. Sanjaykumar Phad & Ms. Dianka Naskar
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.15563408
Abstract
Certificate
Under the economic philosophers like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, India, an emerging market like Turkey, Brazil and South Africa, has struggled to have currency stability. Ambedkar’s commitment to social justice and inclusive policies on the economy is to find a balance between growth, stability and equity. India has responded to exchange rate volatility, inflationary pressures, and external shocks that prevailed from 1980 to 2020 in the way it navigated its monetary policy choices. These dynamics are examined by means of econometric methods, namely stationarity tests, Johansen Cointegration, Vector Autoregression (VAR), and Granger Causality tests in this research, and compared with India’s experience with other such global cases. Unabated inflation and external vulnerabilities have time and again instigated currency volatility, regardless of the country’s economic structure and policy measures. This study utilises Ambedkar’s emphasis of economic equity in combination with the present policy issues and seeks to address the need for reforms towards achieving financial resilience, equitable growth and sustainable stability in a connected global economy.

MATH FOR EQUITY & JUSTICE IN AMBEDKAR'S VISION
Kunalkumar Shelar
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.15563532
Abstract
Certificate
This paper analyzes how math education and data literacy can become powerful tools for promoting equity and justice for marginalized communities in India, drawing inspiration from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s vision of social transformation through education.
It recognizes that historically, caste-based discrimination has limited access to STEM, creating a barrier for marginalized groups in accessing job opportunities and how traditional curricula often alienate students by ignoring their lived realities. It also honors the efforts of reformers from marginalized backgrounds who fought to make education more inclusive and accessible.
To move forward, the paper suggests connecting math learning to real-world issues—like caste and gender inequality, wage gaps, and unequal access to resources—making math meaningful and relevant. It draws on ideas from thinkers like Paulo Freire and highlights both local and global examples where math has been used to drive social change. By weaving Ambedkarite values into classrooms, this study offers practical ways to create a more just and sustainable future—empowering students not just to solve equations, but to challenge injustice and imagine a better world.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar spent his entire life for the welfare of the downtrodden, Dalit, marginalized, deprived classes and women of all societies. Therefore, the fundamental economic thoughts presented by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in the 20th century are still very important in the 21st century. Because he presented his thoughts on a very difficult subject in the form of a thesis in a simple manner. That is why Dr. Amartya Sen considers Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar as a guru in economics. Dr. Amartya Sen's 'Economics of Poverty' is the same as Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's 'Economics of Poverty'. Babasaheb Ambedkar had presented in his writings how the elements of political science, sociology and religion dominated in his 'Economics of Poverty'. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was an unusually talented personality who did very valuable work in various fields such as law, sociology, political science, anthropology and social work, religion, politics and journalism. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was a social reformer and social thinker, but it is clear from his various works that he was a great economist. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was a deep expert in economics.

A STUDY ON WOMEN WORKFORCE AND ITS IMPACT ON INDIAN ECONOMY
Ms. Samreen K. Siddqui & Ms. Vidhi P. Chandra
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.15563686
Abstract
Certificate
Social development, gender equality, and economic growth are all significantly influenced by women's employment. This paper traces the origins of women's labor force participation in India from the earliest reform movements to the present. The groundwork for women's future economic participation was laid by historical figures like Savitribai Phule and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who played a crucial role in promoting women's rights and education.
Women's access to employment was progressively enhanced after independence by a number of legislative changes and improvements in education. But even with advancements, there have been notable swings in India's female labor force participation rate. Due to sociocultural barriers, a lack of employment opportunities, and discrimination based on gender, participation fell in the early 2000s after reaching a peak in the late 20th century. Current patterns indicate a favorable change, with increased participation in the formal economy, digital platforms, and entrepreneurship brought about by government programs, microlending, and rising levels of digital literacy.
Increased household income, better child welfare, more innovation, and possibly a rise in India's GDP are among the advantages. On the other hand, issues like underrepresentation in leadership roles, unequal pay, informal work, and restricted access to safe workplaces and childcare continue to exist.
The study comes to the conclusion that despite the fact that Indian women are becoming more educated and skilled, structural obstacles still prevent them from reaching their full economic potential. India must enact gender-sensitive labor laws, increase educational and skill-development opportunities, and create encouraging work environments in order to attain inclusive growth as well as home.

DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.15563854
Abstract

Currency issues are among the major concerns for developing countries, as they often face volatility, inflation, and dependency on stronger foreign currencies. In India, currency challenges include depreciation of the rupee against the US dollar, inflationary pressures, and a growing trade deficit. India has dealt with a range of currency-related problems including inflation, currency depreciation, counterfeit currency circulation, and black money. Notably, the 2016 demonetization and the recent push for digital currency and financial technology mark significant milestones in India’s monetary landscape.
This research paper examines the key issues related to the Indian currency, both historical and contemporary, and compares them with similar challenges faced by other countries. The paper draws parallels with other economies such as Turkey, and Nigeria, which have experienced inflation, currency depreciation, demonetization, and transitions toward digital currencies. By analyzing these cases, the study identifies common causes, responses, and outcomes of currency crises globally. It further evaluates the effectiveness of policy interventions and the role of central banks in maintaining currency stability

WOMEN’S CONTRIBUTION AMID INDUSTRIAL DISRUPTION THROUGH AMBEDKAR’S LENS
Ms. Deepali Toraskar & Dr. Sanjaykumar Phad
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.15564004
Abstract
Certificate
Dr. Ambedkar’s life was full of struggles to achieve human rights, especially for women. He was not viewing women solely as an economic resource, but also recognized the crucial link between economic empowerment and overall societal progress, advocating for women's equal rights, including access to education, to achieve a more just and equitable society. He has always been a believer in women’s organization. He had a strong belief that women can improve the condition of society. In the eradication of social evils women have rendered great services” (Kumar 217). The study encompasses the women's contribution in economic activities during a period of industrial disruption created due to suspension of NTC Mills in Maharashtra. The study uses primary as well as secondary data. The primary data is collected through interview schedule from workers and the womens of the households. The womens include wives, daughters and mothers of the workers. A Sample of a hundred women has been collected. The hypothesis has been proved with the help of paired t tests. The findings of the paper shows that womens’ contribution has been very high in the families income during the suspension period. Looking into the educational levels of the women, the contributions could have been much higher if the woman would have been more educated as compared to the present educational levels. Hence following Ambedkars’ perspective on women's education, there is a serious need to chalk out policies which could reach out to the downtrodden society especially the under privileged women.

THOUGHTS OF DR. BABASAHEB AMBEDKAR FOR SUSTAINABLE AND INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT
Dr. Subhah Kisan Jogdande & Lt. Dr. Atish S. Tidke
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.15564073
Abstract

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was an important architect of modern India's formation. For sustainable and inclusive development, Dr. Ambedkar proposed the concept of social justice. He expressed thoughts on equality, freedom, fraternity, the abolition of the caste system, and untouchability. He asserted that equal distribution of wealth and equal rights to economic resources are essential. He prioritized issues such as land reform, rural development, labor rights, the public sector, and water management. Education is extremely important for the development of society and the upliftment of individuals. For this, he advocated the principle of "Educate, Organize, and Agitate." Industrialization leads to job creation, economic development, reduction of social inequality, modernization, environmental protection, and labor welfare. He argued that developments in agriculture, availability of drinking water, industrial development, and environmental protection cannot be achieved without water management. He stated that workers should receive proper facilities, exploitation should stop, and their economic conditions should improve. He emphasized values such as democracy, social justice, and national integration. He suggested that if women receive employment, education, and equal rights, their significant contribution to societal development can be realized. He posited that sustainable environmental development will ensure that future generations receive natural resources intact, thus achieving sustainable development.

CASTE, ECONOMY, AND DEVELOPMENT: A CRITICAL PERSPECTIVE ON INCLUSIVE GROWTH IN INDIA
Mr. Dhananjay Shivraj Channale
DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.15564096
Abstract
Certificate
This paper investigates the enduring intersection of caste and economic development in India, emphasizing how caste-based inequalities persist despite decades of economic growth. Drawing upon interdisciplinary literature, government surveys, and scholarly analyses, it highlights how caste remains an entrenched determinant of access to land, education, employment, credit, and entrepreneurial opportunities. The research critiques neoliberal development paradigms for being caste-blind and underscores the inadequacy of welfare schemes and affirmative action in tackling deep-rooted social stratification. It calls for a transformative shift in policy, advocating for an inclusive growth model that integrates social justice and adopts intersectional frameworks addressing caste, class, and gender. The study emphasizes the importance of structural transformation over symbolic inclusion and redistribution and suggests alternative frameworks such as cooperatives, caste-neutral economic zones, and community-led development models to foster equitable development. A caste-sensitive policy lens, the paper concludes, is essential for ensuring sustainable and inclusive economic growth in India.

Open Access Resources (OAR) have revolutionized the way knowledge is disseminated and accessed in the digital age. Open Access Resources (OAR) have become an important part of education and research in academic institutions. These resources include freely available journals, eBooks, theses, and digital repositories that can be accessed without any cost or subscription. This paper explores the role and impact of OAR in improving research quality and student learning outcomes in Mumbai-based academic institutions like the University of Mumbai, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.
The study highlights how OAR help students and researchers by providing easy access to high-quality academic materials, reducing the cost of learning resources, and improving research visibility. Platforms like Shodhganga, NPTEL, and DOAJ have contributed significantly to making academic content freely available to everyone. However, there are still some challenges, such as lack of awareness, poor digital infrastructure, and sustainability issues, which limit the full potential of OAR.
This paper also suggests solutions like conducting awareness programs, increasing collaborations between institutions, and creating local repositories to overcome these challenges. By improving access to OAR, academic institutions in Mumbai can enhance research quality, promote self-learning, and ensure that students and researchers have equal opportunities to access knowledge.

DOI : 10.5281/EIIRJ.15564186
Abstract

Dr. B.R Ambedkar, the principal creator of the Indian constitution, was a great reformer, and his vision for the independence of women and gender equality is also relevant today. Ambedkar's ideologies- rooted in education, social justice, and equal rights- set the groundwork for an inclusive society. This paper examines the importance of his feminist philosophy in economic development in modern society, India, especially with a special emphasis on women's involvement in the workforce. With historical analysis, case studies, and policy reviews, this research shows how Ambedkar's thoughts have influenced constitutional safeguards and government programs for women's economic empowerment. His legacy can be seen in policies such as equal pay, maternity benefits, and reservations in education and employment. However, the study also points out the continuous challenges like the gender pay gap, low female participation in the labour force, and socio-cultural hurdles that continue to limit progress. This paper reconsiders Ambedkar's vision and highlights the need to rearrange the social and economic framework to achieve true gender equality. It summarizes the feasible advice for policymakers, educators, and stakeholders to bridge the gap between Ambedkar’s ideals and the present-day scenario. The paper supports the belief that sustainable development is unachievable without women’s full empowerment and involvement.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was an important leader of social reform in India. The impact of his work is felt in every sector of society, especially in the agricultural sector, where he expressed extremely important thoughts. His views on agriculture were centred on land reforms, collective farming, and the upliftment of small landholding farmers. He believed that small, fragmented landholdings and caste-based land ownership systems were the major problems in the Indian agricultural sector. Dr. Ambedkar made constitutional provisions to solve these issues. The government should take possession of land, distribute it fairly, and promote modern farming techniques so that productivity increases and the standard of living of farmers improves. This research paper studies the thoughts of Babasaheb Ambedkar regarding India's agricultural sector. Secondary sources have been used for the research.

This research paper investigates Ambedkar’s economic philosophies through a feminist perspective, emphasizing his support for women's education, labor rights, equal pay, and involvement in public affairs. As the first Indian leader to advocate for equal civil and economic rights for women within the Constitution and during his tenure as Labour Minister in British India, Ambedkar established the groundwork for feminist economic policies that were progressive for his era. This study critically analyzes his contributions through a gender-focused economic lens, examining significant reforms such as the Hindu Code Bill and provisions for maternity benefits and workplace dignity. By linking his vision to contemporary gender-disaggregated economic data—like labor force participation rates, wage disparities, and access to credit—the paper underscores the lasting importance of Ambedkar's feminist ideals. The results indicate that his Scheme provides a transformative model for eradicating gender-based biases within India’s development strategy and Legislative drafting.
