A STUDY ON USE OF AI TOOLS: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Indian higher education system is adaptive in nature. All branches of higher education in India have shown resilience to changing global scenario and has brought new knowledge into education to make Indian students competitive in global arena. With the introduction of NEP 2020 use of digital technology in education has become essential for several reasons. Incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) tools in higher education provides ample opportunities and also challenges in the context of India education system. With the rapid development of AI tools, universities & colleges in India are increasingly adopting AI-driven systems for a range of academic and administrative functions. These include personalized learning experiences, automated grading, virtual teaching assistants, and predictive analytics to enhance student performance and institutional management. AI also offers potential for transforming curriculum design, improving accessibility for differently-abled students, and addressing the diverse learning needs of India's vast student population.
However, the use of artificial intelligence in Indian higher education faces several challenges which include inadequate infrastructure, limited digital literacy among faculty and students, concerns over data secrecy and security, and the need for substantial investment in artificial intelligence technologies and training. Additionally, there is a risk of deepening educational inequalities, as institutions in urban areas may have greater access to AI tools compared to those in rural or remote regions require careful consideration.
This paper explores the opportunities/ scope and challenges in using artificial intelligence tools in higher education and also identify the purposes of using of using AI tools in higher education. Recommendations and analysis will help to make proper policy guidance for use of AI tools in higher education in India.

Witnessing the changes brought by Artificial Intelligence in performing business operations, AI-powered chatbots are now effectively transforming customer service and represent a significant shift in how businesses interact with their customers. Chatbots can assist customers and potential clients in quickly finding or entering information by replying to inquiries via audio input, text input, or a combination of the two, eliminating the need for human interaction or manual investigation. (IBM, 2024) This study investigates the effects of AI chatbots on customer service efficiency and satisfaction, driven by the growing demand for businesses to deliver rapid, accurate, and cost-effective customer help in an increasingly digital marketplace. The rising use of AI chatbots by companies worldwide and changing customer expectations for an immediate response make this research very pertinent and important. No doubt choosing this research topic is influenced by three key reasons associated with the current business environment: the urgent need for study based on the massive surge of AI chatbots, ever-increasing customer demands for 24/7 support, and greater potential for reducing process costs using AI than through other innovations in service quality. This study aimed to investigate the effect of using AI chatbots on customer service response times compared to traditional human-only support systems. Further, to measure customer satisfaction during interaction with AI chatbots compared to human agents and to identify the main determinants of successful AI chatbots for customer service operations. The present study was based on primary data; researchers used a structured questionnaire to collect information. The sample size for the present study was 231 respondents using a combination of convenience and simple random sampling methods.

EMPOWERING EDUCATION: PERCEPTIONS OF UNDERGRADUATE FEMALE STUDENTS ON THE USE OF AI IN LEARNING

This study explores the perceptions of undergraduate female students regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, focusing on its potential to enhance learning experiences and empower academic outcomes. The research investigates students' awareness, engagement, and challenges in adopting AI-based tools, along with their perceptions of its benefits and drawbacks. A structured questionnaire was administered to a sample of 200 students from diverse academic disciplines, and data were analysed using descriptive statistics and hypothesis testing, including a t-test to identify differences across groups.
Findings reveal that while students generally perceive AI as a tool that personalizes and simplifies learning, concerns about accessibility, data privacy, and over-reliance on technology persist. Significant differences in perceptions were observed across academic disciplines and levels of familiarity with AI tools. The study highlights the need for targeted initiatives to increase AI literacy and address barriers to its effective use. These insights contribute to understanding the role of AI in shaping equitable and inclusive educational practices, especially for female students in undergraduate programs.

College students use chatbots to help with learning and administrative tasks. Chatbots can help students find course details, get help with difficult concepts, and get personalized feedback. However, there are certain negative points many customers still afraid regarding their privacy regarding their financial data fearing misused and breaches. Recent upgrade in technology also replaces human interaction with the help of chatbot and virtual assistance. It also assumes that AI will replace human needs in jobs. The study conducts primary data on the basis of questionnaire with banking customers of different age groups and their perspective towards AI and their trust on recent technology and security towards there banking experience in recent era.

COMPLEMENTARY FEEDING PRACTICES AMONG MOTHERS OF 6 TO 24 MONTHS OLD INFANTS’ AND EXPLORING POTENTIAL OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO SUPPORT THEM

Complementary feeding (CF) should be started after six months to the infants for their growth and development. CF practices amongst the mothers of 6-24 months old subjects were studied and importance and potential of the application of AI for CF in infants were explored from literatures. A mixed study design was used. 190 subjects were selected through stratified random sampling method and proper inclusion and exclusion criteria were followed. Data was collected from mothers of subjects. It was found that 77.60%, infants from 6 to 8 months age group were offered complementary foods with a thin/liquid consistency. 100% subjects fed CF for 1 to 2 times and 16.32% fed for 5 times. 48.42% respondent mothers feeding high calorie food during fever, 44.74% respondents did not give electrolytes/ ORS during diarrhoea and fever. Majority of the subjects drink 120 to 240 ml water daily. It was found that 72.11% participants introduces all tastes and foods to child gradually and slowly in an empty stomach. Only 37.89% participants feed malted food to infants. After studying complementary feeding and it’s finding AI applications found to be important for the care takers in terms of CF. AI driven application for CF can be helpful to improve healthy CF practices among mothers to improve nutritional status of infants and monitor their growth and development.

The Konkan Railway, stretching over 740 kilometers through diverse and challenging terrains, plays a vital role in connecting India’s coastal regions. This railway faces unique challenges, including seasonal disruptions, varying passenger demands, and the need for improved service efficiency. This research focuses on “A Study on commuter satisfaction with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Konkan Railway”. AI technologies have the potential to transform traditional rail travel by offering timely information, minimizing service disruptions, and providing customized travel experiences that meet the needs of each individual passenger. By integrating AI-driven tools such as predictive analytics, machine learning models, chatbots, and recommendation systems, this study aims to optimize passenger services on the Konkan Railway. Real-time updates on train schedules, personalized journey recommendations, and automated assistance can help create a smoother and more convenient travel experience for passengers. The study uses data-driven methods to assess the effectiveness of these AI applications, evaluating their impact on passenger satisfaction, service efficiency, and overall travel convenience. The findings of this study reveal that AI-driven technologies significantly contribute to improving service delivery, reducing delays, and offering personalized travel options. Passengers benefit from dynamic ticketing, automated support, and customized travel suggestions, resulting in higher levels of satisfaction. The study shows that AI can help railways run more smoothly by predicting passenger demand and infrastructure needs, reducing costs, and using resources more efficiently. In conclusion, this study highlights AI's transformative potential in making the Konkan Railway smarter, more efficient, and passenger-centric. By incorporating AI-powered solutions, the railway can improve both the overall travel experience and its responsiveness to the needs of modern travelers', paving the way for a more connected and smarter transportation system.

Artificial intelligence is the 5th industrial revolution which helps to increase productivity and efficiency of the workplace activities. It has an impact almost on all the sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, banking, marketing, information technology, etc. This study focuses on AI in the accounting sector. The researcher found that cost constraint was the main reason for not implementing AI in the organization. More than 50 % of the working graduates feared job loss due to technological advancement. On comparing the perception of accounting professionals with working graduates, it was found that working graduates perceive AI will be used to a higher extent in managerial decision making in comparison to accounting professionals. It is recommended that working graduates and accounting professionals stay upgraded and certified in AI to secure their jobs.

The rapid growth of e-commerce has significantly changed the retail landscape, prompting businesses to prioritize customer service improvement. To achieve this, organizations are increasingly using technology, particularly artificial intelligence. One of the most prominent advancements in this sphere is the extensive adoption of chatbots alongside human support to assist customers. While both chatbots and human agents offer diverse advantages and face unique challenges, this study aims to explore customer preferences when seeking assistance in e-commerce. The study focuses on understanding how customers perceive the effectiveness of chatbots and human support in resolving their queries. It also intends to measure customer satisfaction levels based on their experiences with both chatbots and human agents and identifying key areas for improvement to enhance customer interactions and service quality. In order to analyse these aspects, both primary and secondary data were collected. A total of 155 responses were gathered through an e-survey using the Convenience Sampling technique. The findings highlight the necessity for businesses to strike a balance between automation and human intervention. While chatbots provide efficiency and instant responses, human support remains crucial for handling complex issues and personalized interactions. To enhance customer experience, businesses must focus on improving chatbot accuracy, reliability, and personalization while ensuring seamless collaboration between AI-driven solutions and human agents.

Education system has three functions in society. First is to teach knowledge and skills, the second is to use exams to identify students, and the third is to provide a common sense of facts and values. These three functions can be referred to as ‘Human development’, ‘Sorting’ and ‘Socialisation’. The paper highlights the current crisis in education, where our education system has been focusing only on the ‘Sorting’ function rather than ‘Human Development’ inculcating the culture of rote memorisation and the developments in the fields of education are only quantitative than qualitative as evidenced by the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER). This paper explores and tries to understand the reasons behind the decreasing quality of education, the probable solutions with the help of AI in education, focusing on the balance between technological innovation, traditional learning approaches, and also emphasises on the importance of human oversight. While AI offers personalized learning, tailored curriculums, and interactive environments, it struggles with fostering cognitive abilities, creativity, and critical thinking. Solutions such as the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach and the integration of Humans-in-the-Loop approach are proposed to address these gaps.

By examining existing applications, prospects, and potential risks, this study assesses AI's benefits and drawbacks, highlighting its influence on accounting’s future. The findings emphasize the importance of embracing AI-driven advancements while promoting flexibility, ethical behaviour, and data integrity. A structured questionnaire was used as a research tool for understanding user’s preference towards The AI Effect: Navigating Threats and Opportunities in Accounting Education. A sample data of users was used and it was collected through the source of questionnaire. Though this study was done in a small area, we have made an attempt to explain the whole scenario along with our supporting suggestions.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming various sectors by improving efficiency and decision making. This paper analyzes the intricacies of intellectual property (IP) ownership regarding AI-generated works inside the Indian legal system. As artificial intelligence (AI) systems progressively generate content independently, inquiries emerge regarding authorship and the relevance of current intellectual property regulations. The study intends to evaluate existing Indian intellectual property laws, determine their sufficiency in managing AI-generated creations, and recognize any legal obstacles and consequences. The theoretical framework is based on legal positivism, emphasizing the interpretation of statutory laws and judicial precedents. The research utilizes a doctrinal methodology, encompassing an extensive survey of Indian intellectual property legislation, analysis of case law, and scrutiny of international legal frameworks for comparative perspectives. Research reveals that Indian intellectual property law does not contain explicit regulations for works generated by artificial intelligence, resulting in uncertainties regarding authorship and ownership. The Indian government asserts that the current intellectual property regime can safeguard AI-generated works; yet, actual implementation issues remain.
The recent lawsuit by Indian news agency ANI against OpenAI for the improper use of its content in AI training models highlights the urgent necessity for legal clarity in this area. The study indicates that India's existing intellectual property regime is inadequate to confront the distinctive difficulties presented by AI-generated works. It advocates for legislative modifications to clearly delineate authorship and ownership of AI-generated creations, so guaranteeing legal clarity and safeguarding stakeholders. It is also observed that no such amendments it is made in Information technology act and IPR policy subject to increase in use of AI in field of literature.

The world today is talking about Artificial Intelligence trying to replace the Human Intelligence in all the sectors. The National Education Policy 2020 also proposes the maximum use of technology in the classrooms by supporting the tagline ‘AI for ALL’. But unlike any other sector, the educational sector rather than dealing with machines, deals with the human beings with emotions, intellect and unpredictive brains. Therefore, the young developing generations may get misguided if handed over in the hands of AI completely for their development. On the other hand, it has become impossible to keep pace with the faster moving world with omission of technology. The present study therefore tries to blend the traditional strategies of teaching with modern technology in such a ratio so as to gain the maximum positive outcomes. The study intends to investigate the effectiveness of AI enhanced blended learning programme on the achievement of the learner. The teaching programme was developed by the researcher by blending the AI tools with the traditional face to face teaching method. The quasi-experimental pre-post-test study was conducted on the students of grade XI of science stream, studying in Government Higher Secondary School, Pernem Goa. The study utilizes convenient sampling method for selection of the sample. The pre- test score was used to divide the sample into two groups of 15 students each, using counter balance design. One group was termed as the Experimental Group while the other group as the Controlled Group. The Gravitation topic in physics was taught to an experimental group using the developed programme, utilizing AI enhanced blended mode of teaching whereas the traditional face-to-face mode of teaching was used for the controlled group. After the treatment, both the groups were administered the post-test. The score of post- tests of experimental and controlled group was analyzed using t-test to find the effect of the treatment administered to the experimental group. The feedback was obtained from the learners to find their views and the challenges faced by them while going through the experimental phase. The study showed that there was a significant difference in the mean score of experimental and control group indicating that the programme was very effective. The feedback obtained showed that if learners are equipped and guided with proper technology and devices AI enhanced blended teaching will bring the reform by making learning more interesting, focused, engaging and playful. Hence the study provided the concrete evidence that planned integration of AI in complementation with the traditional teaching will lead to the positive enhancement of the achievement of the learning of the learner. This study will help the educators, policy makers, curriculum planners, academicians and all the stakeholders to accept the use of ai tools positively for enhancing the learning outcomes of the learners.

As AI applications grow, so do concerns about the ethical implications of data usage and potential privacy violations (Floridi & Cowls, 2019). Ensuring responsible AI deployment requires balancing innovation with rigorous data governance frameworks (European Commission, 2021). This paper aims to provide insights into emerging privacy-preserving AI methodologies while addressing regulatory and ethical challenges. However, the integration of AI into daily life presents significant data privacy challenges. AI systems process vast amounts of personal data, leading to concerns about consent, security, and regulatory compliance. This paper explores the evolving landscape of data privacy in AI, analyzing challenges such as data collection risks, biases in AI models, security breaches, and compliance with global regulations like GDPR and CCPA (Dwork & Roth, 2014). Various privacy-preserving AI solutions, including federated learning, differential privacy, homomorphic encryption, and secure multi-party computation, are examined in depth. Additionally, ethical AI frameworks and privacy-preserving machine learning approaches are discussed to ensure responsible AI deployment. Recent research advancements in privacy-preserving AI models, including privacy-aware machine learning algorithms and zero-knowledge proofs, are also explored. Real-world case studies, including the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica scandal, illustrate the consequences of inadequate data privacy measures (World Economic Forum, 2023). The paper concludes by highlighting the need for collaborative efforts between policymakers, researchers, and technologists to develop robust privacy-preserving AI models that balance innovation with ethical considerations.

Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications enable improved customer interactions through virtual assistants, restructuring customer service processes. The retail footwear industry has undergone tremendous expansion in the e-commerce sector as a result of technological advancement and the application of artificial intelligence. The development of specific AI technologies has tackled issues encountered during online purchases, such as poor fit and a lack of communication. AI provides a virtual try-on option for trying on footwear as well as chatbots for queries, simplifying decision making and increasing customer satisfaction. The present paper focuses on exploring the role of artificial intelligence in transforming the retail footwear industry. Additionally, the study will examine the case study on Nike’s application of AI in its retail strategies.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) has redefined worldwide transportation, improving safety, sustainability, and efficiency. In India, AI-driven autonomous vehicles (AVs) present a transformative potential, particularly in addressing traffic congestion, urban mobility challenges, and road safety concerns. It includes phased implementation of AVs, investment in smart infrastructure, and regulatory reforms to facilitate safe deployment. AI’s role in autonomous vehicles is becoming more prominent in India, especially with the increasing focus on smart cities and sustainable transportation solutions. Since there is a rising interest in the usage of AI in transforming the automotive landscape, still autonomous vehicles are not widely used yet. The study examines the feasibility of deploying AVs in India's complex transportation ecosystem. This paper highlights the economic and environmental benefits of artificial intelligence and AV technologies in India and also the need for a collaborative framework involving policymakers, technology developers, and the public to connect AI’s potential in India's transportation sector. For research design, a qualitative and quantitative approach is used. The study discusses the crucial role of artificial intelligence (AI) in transportation, challenges, and opportunities, focusing on the adoption of autonomous vehicles (AVs) in India.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force in language and literature, enabling advancements in creative writing, literary analysis, and linguistic preservation. This study examines the intersection of AI and literature, emphasizing its applications in automated content generation, textual analysis, and the safeguarding of linguistic heritage. Generative AI tools, such as GPT-4, were utilized to analyze their capacity for producing diverse literary forms, including poetry, novels, and screenplays. Analytical algorithms were applied to large-scale literary corpora to uncover patterns, themes, and stylistic trends. Moreover, AI-driven computational techniques, such as natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning models, were employed to decode historical texts and identify endangered linguistic structures, contributing to cultural preservation. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative analysis of AI-generated content with qualitative assessments of its literary and cultural significance. Case studies of AI-assisted projects were conducted to illustrate practical applications, while surveys of existing literature provided a theoretical framework for evaluating ethical concerns. The findings highlight AI's dual role as a catalyst for enhanced creativity and a democratizing force for accessing literary resources. However, the integration of AI into language and literature presents challenges, including authenticity, intellectual property, and biases within language models. By addressing these issues, the research advocates for a balanced approach to leveraging AI's strengths responsibly. This study envisions a future where human creativity and AI capabilities coexist harmoniously, fostering collaboration, education, and innovation in literary and linguistic fields.
